This was the perfect thing to do…
Governor Brian Kemp issued an executive order recently that barred local municipalities from creating a mask mandate for citizens.
A report from The Hill states that “His order prevents any municipality from enforcing a mask order that is more restrictive than the one at the state level.”
Many local governments have issued mandates limiting their citizens from going out without a mask, however with the recent executive order, the mandates are nullified.
Though Kemp strongly encourages and Georgians to wear masks, he is making sure that local governments don’t impede on people’s rights and FORCE them to wear masks.
A spokeswoman for Kemp said, “Previous executive orders – and now this order – state no local action can be more or less restrictive than ours. We have explained that local mask mandates are unenforceable. The Governor continues to strongly encourage Georgians to wear masks in public.”
